More information about Berry Bay.

Berry Bay is a beautiful costal area located on the western side of the peninsula, only a 5-minute drive from Corny Point. It has two prime locations, Berry North and Berry South. This beach is known for its clear blue waters and unspoiled beaches making it quite the picturesque place to enjoy walks, relaxing, swimming and surfing. Berry Bay is quite a popular spot for beginning and intermediate surfers who want to get a feel for it as the waves are suitable. If you are lucky enough you may even spot some dolphins cruising around in the bay. The beach can be accessed via a staircase down the clifftop at either end of the beach.

The beach itself is almost 2km long, with a rocky point at either end. The Northern rocky area has some sheltered rock pools. The southern end rocks are huge, weathered and rounded. Swimmers and surfers often use these rocks to warm up and dry off after their swim, they are large enough for multiple people to lay across. Perfect place to dry off a wetsuit.

Can you drive on Berry Bay?
Unfortunately you cant drive on Berry Bay. The entire beach is surrounded by cliff face. Even if you could the beach is a surf beach, I think you would find you sink right in.

History about Berry Bay.

Berry Bay is only about 500meters from the Corny Point lighthouse. The Corny Point lighthouse was errected in 1882 to protect grain ships moving around the Yorke Peninsula into the relatively sheltered waters for the ports around Port Victoria. Corny Point has a series of offshore reefs that caused issues for ships moving around the point. A number of these reefs were attempted to be removed with explosives. The reefs remain.
