Troubridge
Just around from the Troubridge Lighthouse is Troubridge Beach. A windswept cliff face and carpark lead down a set of steps to the semi sheltered surf beach below. This one is great for boogie boarding. Arguably the best beach near Edithburgh.
Troubridge was named after Admiral Sir Thomas Troubridge, a naval commander. In 1797 Troubridge was fighting under Sir John Jervis on the HMS Colloden and involved in the Battle of Cap St Vincent, off Portugal against the Spanish. Flinders at the time being in New South Wales named the stretch of coast after him 5 years later. The lighhouse being buildt in 1856.
